Seep Zone Interpretive Trail
Self-Guided Interpretive Tours Trail maps and interpretive guides are available through the Campus Natural Reseve office. Guides contain information about the 12 stops on the Seep Zone Interpretive Trail. The Seep Zone Interpretive Trail, an approximately 1.5 mile trail, begins near the Baskin Engineering and Communications buildings. This trail winds through a variety of plant communities on its way to the Crown Meadow. You will see:
Spring Road begins between Baskin Engineering and Communications. Fuel Break Road begins above the campus Fire Station. |
These children on a tour discover the size and age of this special Douglas fir. This tree is indeed old to be alive in this formerly logged forest--thus it has earned the name "Lucky" and is a special feature of the Seep Zone trail.
A school group stops to rest and enjoy a snack half way through their tour of the seep zone trail.
A school group from the Aptos Academy wraps up the tour with a game in the Crown Meadow. |
